Michelle was wonderful to work with. She did an excellent job meeting me where I was at throughout this whole process and the ups and downs involved in searching for the right home. She took the time to understand my wants and needs and provided guidance based on my feedback. I felt she was really knowledgable about the markets we were touring and knew how to write a competitive offer. I knew she had my best interest in mind throughout the entire process and I'm so happy with the home I've purchased. I've since recommended her to friends and family and although I hope not to buy another home anytime soon she will surely be my first call if I do. Thanks again for being exactly what I needed.

Michelle was the first realtor we interviewed that we felt absolutely comfortable with from the very first time we spoke on the phone. After we chose her to be our realtor, she guided us through the process of listing the house step by step, beginning with a detailed market analysis, and answered questions we had about the current market and what that meant for the sale of our home. She did not hesitate to consult with other members of her team to make sure that we had accurate information for our particular property. Michelle was quick to lend a hand with anything we needed to move the process forward - including taking last minute tasks off our hands completely. Together we discussed the best way to stage the home and a professional photographer provided the photos that were used online. She even produced a promotional video, highlighting aspects of the home and surrounding neighborhood amenities. Once the house was on the market, Michelle kept us informed about every viewing and feedback other realtors and potential buyers provided. We felt that she was always our advocate in any discussions and negotiations that took place. When our home had an accepted offer, she patiently and expertly went through all of the various paperwork and forms with us. Why work with Michelle? Because I had ALL sorts of questions. I wasn’t quite ready to take the jump or sure if I was at that point to get a realtor yet. Michelle McKiernan was great. She didn’t push, pressure or try to persuade me to start looking. She let me know where I was in the process and had suggestions. She always made sure my questions were answered and I understood everything along the way. She never made me feel like I was wasting her time like some other folks and truly made me feel like she was invested in our goal to find a home. I also emailed.. a lot.. late and early sometimes.. I got fast responses and answers. When she didn’t have the answer, she let us know she was working on it. Michelle worked extremely hard to find us our home. She was great at communicating, calling folks, getting showings and so much more. One thing I truly appreciated was that she never allowed us to settle. She kept it real. Because of that, we found our home that checked off everything on our list of needs. We didn’t overpay or waived any inspections or appraisals. We had someone who knew how to guide us in the right direction.

Michelle went above and beyond as a real estate agent to not only acquaint us to the hectic Madison housing market, but to find a place that really feels like home to us. She really listened to us and took time to get to know us as a family. We were house-hunting from afar and making trips to town under a tight schedule. Michelle not only sent us prospective homes, but did extra digging to uncover what might not be visible from a simple online listing. By the time we toured homes in person, we really felt like we had a good handle on what the home offered. Once the sale was complete, Michelle could have said "bye, see ya later," but has kept in touch making sure we're aware of the best Madison has to offer (and it's a lot!) We couldn't have asked for a better home purchasing experience.

Michelle was my buyer's agent when I purchased my condo in May 2019. She was patient and respected my timeline, even though I was in no hurry to buy. When I was finally ready to look at some places, she made herself available and scheduled showings at my request, sometimes with very little notice. During the contract negotiations, she was responsive and thorough. As she is a newer agent, whenever she wasn't sure about something she did her research and had the entire experience of the Mode Realty team behind her to consult with, so I felt very comfortable with the entire process. I would recommend her in an instant to anyone who wants a great listener and a strong advocate on their side.

ABOUT ME
The first question most people ask about my moving to Wisconsin from California is, “Why?!”. It was the right move at the right time; I have always been happy with the decision to make my home in Madison. Since arriving in 2005, I have worked as an academic counselor with Cardinal Stritch University, a counselor with the UW’s Information Technology Academy (where I continue to be involved as an advisory board member), and an adjunct instructor at Madison College.
I took a great deal of satisfaction in being an educator and a counselor for many years. As a Realtor®, I have the opportunity to work closely with people as they move toward a goal, go through a transition, or follow a dream. My satisfaction and success comes from building relationships, truly hearing and understanding peoples’ ideas and concerns, and advocating for clients. All of this demands consistent communication, staying current with market trends, and embracing a lifelong learning philosophy.
Jim, a Madison native, and I moved into our early 1900’s home in the Greenbush neighborhood in 2005. In 2022, we sold the home where we’d spent 17 happy years with neighbors who became our family, and moved to the Village of Belleville. Just a 20 minute drive from what we now call “town”, Belleville offered great options for aging in place. As much as I miss my old block, the thrill of a garage and one story living cannot be denied. I’m meeting my fellow villagers at the Belleville Public Library, a beautiful new building where I’m volunteering with Friends of the Library as well as enjoying a run as the Storytime lady on select Saturday mornings, and in line dancing classes at the Sugar River Senior Center.
